Taylor's Guestbook

Paul Blauvelt

Taylor Mitchell
She was a young musician from Toronto
Thought by many to be an up and coming star;
But her career and life would be cut short
In a way that could only be called bizarre.

Up to this point things were going quite well,
She was midway through her east coast tour;
While hiking on the Skyline trail in beautiful Cape Breton, she would meet up with more than what she bargained for.
To loose one's life on the streets of Toronto is understandable
But who would have even given the slightest thought;
That she would be attacked by a pair of vicious coyotes
Which for some reason were overly distraught.
As a result of the mauling they inflicted on her
The following day she would succumb;
This attack has not only baffled all the experts
But has left the community shocked and numb.
Because of this sad and tragic incident
We didn't really get to know this up and coming star;
To most everyone I've talked to about it
The whole thing still seems bizarre.
Many felt the sky would be the limit for her
But that would all end on the Skyline Trail;
We can sit and wonder why do these things happen
But usually our questions are to no avail.

We've got to believe that someone knows the reason
Other wise Taylor Mitchell's life will have been in vain;
The best answer I can come up with
Is that our loss is Heavens gain.

I'd like to say on behalf of all Nova Scotians
We'd like to express collectively;
To Taylor's family and her loved ones
We sincerely extend our deepest sympathy.

In sad irony, I only discovered your beautiful music when hearing of your death. I understand the yearn for the wild and its tragic that this has taken you away. You will be missed. Thank you for your songs.

Your CD travelled all the way to Australia Taylor! It's sooo good. Wherever your sweet spirit soars I want you to know that your music is great. A first CD! You're a star. You obviously had soooo much more to offer. Your music will stand on its own and many people around the planet will be playing it and remember you to others, even as time passes beyond us. Thanks and bless your kind soul for your gifts of goodness. A tragic loss for a good family.

I'd like to wish patience and latent buds of gratefulness to all who suffer from Taylor's death - as we move into the year after her passing away.

One question: wouldn't it be a good idea to put some of the impressions from her memorial concert on this homepage?

Right now I am listening to Taylor Mitchell's CD, For your consideration and I am in awe of her talent and the content of her lyrics. No doubt she would have done far in her life. Please take comfort in the fact that her music continues to inspire and touch others. Her life may not have been long but her impact has been great.

"It's hard to understand why God would take this beautiful person from the world, faith must be the answer, for if we are to all have faith, we must believe there is an answer . Taylor’s songs touched my soul and will touch the soul’s of many thousands of people, she will bring them all back home to God. She is a Saint and will live forever through her words. To all her family and friends I am sorry you don‘t have her with you, may you find comfort knowing that she has and will continue to touch so many. “
